The JLPT 2026 at the University of Leicester takes place on Sunday 5 July (July session) and December 2026. Leicester is one of only three UK centres offering the July test — and unlike London, it tends to have more availability when SOAS and King’s College fill up within hours of opening.

Why Choose Leicester Over London?
London’s two centres — SOAS and King’s College — fill up within hours of registration opening, sometimes within minutes. Leicester consistently has more availability, and the July 2026 exam will take place at the University of Leicester on Sunday 5 July 2026 in the morning.
Leicester is also genuinely accessible from much of England. It’s about one hour from London by train (East Midlands Railway from St Pancras), and well connected from Birmingham, Nottingham, and Sheffield.
Additionally, Languages at Leicester offers JLPT preparation courses for levels N5 to N2 — so if you’re based in the Midlands, you can prepare and sit the exam in the same place.
