# JLPT Leicester 2026: Test Dates, Registration & Getting There

## Why Choose Leicester Over London?
London’s two centres — SOAS and King’s College — fill up within hours of registration opening, sometimes within minutes. Leicester consistently has more availability.
Leicester is also genuinely accessible from much of England:
– **From London:** About 1 hour by train (East Midlands Railway from St Pancras)
– **From Birmingham:** About 1 hour by train
– **From Nottingham:** About 30 minutes by train
– **From Sheffield:** About 1 hour by train
Additionally, Languages at Leicester offers JLPT preparation courses for levels N5 to N2 — so if you’re based in the Midlands, you can prepare and sit the exam in the same place.

## Getting to the University of Leicester
**University of Leicester**
University Road, Leicester LE1 7RH
– **By train:** Leicester station is served by East Midlands Railway (from London St Pancras, about 1 hour) and Cross Country (from Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield). The campus is about 25 minutes’ walk or a short bus ride from the station.
– **By bus:** Leicester City Bus routes serve the university. The 48 and 49 stop near campus.
– **By car:** Leicester is just off the M1 (Junction 21). Parking is available near campus on weekends.

## Exam Day Information
– The December 2026 exam takes place in the morning. Arrive early — check your admission voucher for the exact check-in time.
– **New check-in rule (from 2026):** Examinees who arrive after check-in closes will NOT be permitted to take the first test section. Missing any section means you cannot pass.
– **Electronic devices:** All devices must be switched OFF for the entire test day including breaks. If a device is found on during breaks, your test will be invalidated.
– **ID:** Bring valid photo ID. The name must match your application exactly.
– **Special Testing Accommodations:** Apply by Friday 4 September 2026 at the latest. Contact [email protected] for details.

## Results
Results of the JLPT December 2026 test will be available online from late January 2027. You’ll need:
– Your 8-digit password (created during registration)
– Your examinee registration number
