JLPT July 2026 results for UK candidates are expected in early September 2026. In Japan, results go online around the third week of August. This guide covers exactly when to check, how to log in, what your score means, and what to do next.
When Are the JLPT July 2026 Results?

The exact date is not announced in advance. Check the MyJLPT portal and your test centre’s website from late August onwards. Note that on result release day, the JLPT portal sometimes experiences heavy traffic — if you can’t access it immediately, try again a few hours later.
How to Check Your Results Online
UK candidates check results through one of two routes depending on where they registered:
SOAS London and King’s College London
Results are announced directly by the test centre. Check your test centre’s website and any emails they send. You may also be able to access results through the official JLPT overseas portal at info.jees-jlpt.jp using your MyJLPT login.
University of Leicester
Results are posted on the Leicester JLPT page and sent by email. Log in to the official portal using the credentials you created when you registered.
University of Edinburgh
Edinburgh only runs the December session — there are no July results for Edinburgh candidates.
To log in to the MyJLPT portal:
- Go to info.jees-jlpt.jp
- Log in with your MyJLPT ID and password
- Navigate to “Examination Results”
- Select “July 2026”
- Your sectional scores, total scaled score, and pass/fail status will be displayed
Results are available online for a limited time — save or screenshot your scores when you access them.
Understanding Your Score
The JLPT uses scaled scores, not raw scores. Your result shows:
- Total scaled score (out of 180)
- Sectional scores — you must pass both overall AND each section
- Pass/fail status
- Reference information — your performance band per skill area

You must pass both the overall total and every individual section. A high total score does not compensate for a failed section.
If You Passed
Your Certificate of Proficiency will be mailed by your test centre. UK candidates should expect it around October 2026 — several weeks after the online result. The certificate never expires.
If you need your certificate urgently for a visa or job application, contact your test centre directly to ask about timelines. Do not wait until the last minute — mailing times vary.
If You Didn’t Pass
The December 2026 test takes place on Sunday 6 December 2026. Registration is expected to open in August 2026 at UK test centres. If you want to retake in December, register as soon as registration opens — London centres fill up quickly.
The most common reasons candidates fail sections:
- Listening: Not enough practice with natural-speed audio under timed conditions
- Reading: Running out of time — speed-reading practice is essential from N3 upwards
- Grammar/Vocabulary: Gaps in specific patterns that require targeted drilling
Reviewing your sectional scores carefully tells you exactly where to focus. A low Listening score needs a different study plan than a low Reading score.
