ゴミの日ひ

アンナは先週せんしゅう、この町まちに引ひっ越こしてきたばかりだ。Anna only moved to this town last week.まだ近所きんじょの店みせも、駅えきまでの近道ちかみちもよく分わからない。She still doesn't really know the local shops or the shortcut to the station.部屋へやの段だんボールも、まだ半分はんぶんしか開あけていない。Only half of the boxes in her flat are unpacked.

月曜日げつようびの朝あさ、アンナは大おおきなゴミ袋ぶくろを持もって外そとに出でた。On Monday morning, Anna went out carrying a big rubbish bag.不動産屋ふどうさんやでもらった紙かみには、「燃もえるゴミは月曜日げつようび」と書かいてあったはずだ。The paper from the estate agent should have said, "Burnable rubbish: Monday."ところが、ゴミ置おき場ばには袋ふくろが一ひとつもなかった。But there wasn't a single bag at the rubbish point.「おかしいな。今日きょうは月曜日げつようびのはずなのに。」"That's strange. Today should be Monday."

そのとき、自転車じてんしゃに乗のったおばあさんが止とまった。Just then, an old woman on a bicycle stopped.「あら、それ、今日きょうは出だせないわよ。」"Oh dear, you can't put that out today."「えっ、燃もえるゴミは月曜日げつようびじゃないんですか。」"What? Isn't burnable rubbish on Monday?"「この辺あたりは、先月せんげつから水曜日すいようびと土曜日どようびに変かわったの。」"Round here, it changed to Wednesdays and Saturdays last month."アンナは急きゅうに恥はずかしくなった。Anna suddenly felt embarrassed.「すみません。引ひっ越こしてきたばかりで、知しりませんでした。」"I'm sorry. I've only just moved here, so I didn't know."「いいのよ。私わたしも去年きょねんここに来きたばかりのころ、三回さんかいも間違まちがえたんだから。」"That's all right. When I'd just moved here last year, I got it wrong three times."

おばあさんは自転車じてんしゃのかごから、一枚いちまいの紙かみを出だした。The old woman took a sheet of paper out of her bicycle basket.町まちのゴミの日ひが、色分いろわけして書かいてある。It showed the town's rubbish days, colour-coded.「これ、あげる。冷蔵庫れいぞうこに貼はっておくといいわ。」"Here, have this. Stick it on your fridge."家いえに帰かえって紙かみを貼はると、下したのほうに小ちいさく手書てがきの文字もじがあった。When Anna got home and put it up, there was some small handwriting at the bottom.「困こまったときは、三階さんがいの山田やまだまで。」"If you need help, ask Yamada on the third floor."アンナはゴミ袋ぶくろをベランダに戻もどして、少すこしだけ笑わらった。Anna put the rubbish bag back on the balcony and smiled a little.この町まちは、思おもっていたより住すみやすいかもしれない。Maybe this town would be easier to live in than she had thought.
