はじめの日、ミナさんはあさ七時に会社に来ました。On her first day, Mina got to the office at seven in the morning.まだ、だれもいませんでした。There was nobody there yet.八時半に、先ぱいの高橋さんが来て、わらいました。At half past eight, her senior colleague Mr Takahashi arrived and laughed.「ミナさん、そんなにはやく来なくてもいいですよ。」"Mina, you don't have to come in that early."
つぎの日、ミナさんはお昼ごはんを、へやで一人で食べました。The next day, Mina ate her lunch alone at her desk.高橋さんが言いました。Mr Takahashi said:「昼休みは、外に出てもいいですよ。」"You're allowed to go out during the lunch break, you know."「それから、へやの電気は、けさなくてもいいです。」"And you don't have to turn the lights off in here."ミナさんは、少しずつ会社になれました。Little by little, Mina got used to the company.
金曜日の夕方、高橋さんが言いました。On Friday evening, Mr Takahashi said:「ミナさん、きょうはもうかえってもいいですよ。」"Mina, you can go home now if you like."でも、ミナさんは、まだパソコンの前にいます。But Mina was still sitting in front of her computer.「高橋さん、このしごとは、きょうしなくてもいいですか。」"Mr Takahashi, do I not have to finish this job today?"高橋さんは、紙を見て、少し考えました。Mr Takahashi looked at the papers and thought for a moment.
「あ、それは、わたしのしごとでした。」"Ah — that one was my job."二人は、大きい声でわらいました。The two of them burst out laughing.
