その一言を言ったばかりに、健一けんいちはマンションのホームページ係かかりを任まかされることになった。Just because he said that, Ken'ichi was put in charge of the building's website.本当ほんとうは、仕事しごとでメールと表計算ひょうけいさんソフトを使つかう程度ていどで、ホームページなど作つくったこともない。In reality, all he did at work was use email and spreadsheets, and he had never made a website in his life.しかし、みんなの期待きたいに満みちた顔かおを見みると、今いまさら断ことわることはできなかった。But looking at everyone's hopeful faces, he couldn't back out now.「これからは健一けんいちさんがいるから安心あんしんね」と、隣となりの部屋へやの女性じょせいにまで言いわれてしまった。Even the woman from the flat next door said, "Now that we've got you, Ken'ichi, we can relax."

それから毎晩まいばん、健一けんいちは動画どうがサイトで作つくり方かたを調しらべた。From then on, every night, Ken'ichi looked up how to do it on video sites.何度なんども失敗しっぱいしながら、一いっか月げつかかってようやく簡単かんたんなページが完成かんせいした。After failing again and again, it took him a month to finally finish a simple page.ゴミの日ひや工事こうじのお知しらせを載のせただけのものだが、住民じゅうみんからは意外いがいなほど喜よろこばれた。It only listed bin days and notices about building work, but the residents were surprisingly pleased with it.

ところが、それで終おわりではなかった。That, however, was not the end of it.ページができたと聞きいて、今度こんどは高齢こうれいの住民じゅうみんが次々つぎつぎに相談そうだんに来くるようになったのだ。Hearing that the page was up, elderly residents began coming to him one after another for help.「スマホで孫まごの写真しゃしんが見みられない」「ページの開ひらき方かたがわからない」。"I can't see my grandchildren's photos on my phone." "I don't know how to open the page."パソコンが得意だと言ったばかりに、健一けんいちの週末しゅうまつはすっかりなくなってしまった。All because he had said he was good with computers, Ken'ichi's weekends had vanished completely.

最近さいきんでは、集会所しゅうかいしょで月つきに一度いちど、スマホ教室きょうしつまで開ひらいている。These days he even runs a smartphone class once a month in the community room.教おしえている健一けんいち自身じしんも、まだ知しらないことだらけだ。Even Ken'ichi, the one teaching, still has loads he doesn't know.わからない質問しつもんが出でると、「来月らいげつまでに調しらべておきます」と答こたえて、家いえで必死ひっしに調しらべる。When someone asks something he can't answer, he says, "I'll look into it by next month," and then frantically researches it at home.

先日せんじつ、妻つまにこう言いわれた。The other day, his wife said to him:「文句もんくばかり言いってるけど、教室きょうしつの日ひはいつも楽たのしそうね。」"You do nothing but moan, but you always look happy on class days."健一けんいちは否定ひていしようとしたが、うまく言葉ことばが出でてこなかった。Ken'ichi tried to deny it, but the words wouldn't come.来月らいげつのテーマは、「ビデオ通話つうわで孫まごと話はなそう」だ。Next month's topic is "Talking to your grandchildren by video call".今夜こんやも、調しらべることがたくさんある。Tonight, once again, he has plenty to look up.
