おばあちゃんの電話でんわ

アキはロンドンの大学だいがくで勉強べんきょうしている。Aki is studying at a university in London.日本にほんにいるおばあちゃんは、携帯電話けいたいでんわを持もっていなかった。Her grandmother in Japan didn't have a mobile phone.だから、アキはおばあちゃんとあまり話すことができなかった。So Aki couldn't talk to her grandmother very often.手紙てがみを書くことはできるが、返事へんじが来くるまで一いっか月げつもかかる。She could write letters, but it took a whole month for a reply to come.

去年きょねんの冬ふゆ、アキの母ははがおばあちゃんにスマホをプレゼントした。Last winter, Aki's mum gave her grandmother a smartphone.おばあちゃんは「こんな難むずかしいもの、使うことができないよ。」と言いっていた。Her grandmother said, "I can't use something this difficult."でも、毎日まいにち少すこしずつ練習れんしゅうしたらしい。But apparently she practised a little every day.

ある晩ばん、アキのスマホが鳴なった。One evening, Aki's phone rang.画面がめんいっぱいに、おばあちゃんの顔かおが見みえた。Her grandmother's face filled the whole screen.「アキちゃん、見みえる？聞きこえる？」"Aki, can you see me? Can you hear me?"「見みえるよ！おばあちゃん、すごい！」"I can see you! Grandma, that's amazing!"二人ふたりは一時間いちじかんも話はなした。The two of them talked for a whole hour.

それから、おばあちゃんは毎日電話まいにちでんわをかけてくるようになった。After that, her grandmother started calling every day.ある日ひ、アキは友達ともだちに言いった。One day, Aki said to a friend,「おばあちゃんと話すことができて、うれしいんだけど……。」"I'm really glad I can talk to Grandma, but…"「けど？」"But?"「電話でんわが来くるのは、いつもロンドンの夜中よなかの三時さんじなんだ。」"She always calls at three in the morning, London time."
