はじめて読よみ終おわった本ほん

ハナさんは、小ちいさい本屋ほんやで働はたらいています。Hana works at a small bookshop.おくに絵本えほんのコーナーがあります。At the back there is a picture book corner.毎週土曜日まいしゅうどようび、リクくんという男おとこの子こが来きます。Every Saturday a boy called Riku comes in.小学一年生しょうがくいちねんせいで、字じを読よむのがゆっくりです。He is in his first year at primary school, and he reads slowly.

はじめて来きた日ひ、リクくんは絵本えほんを一いっさつ持もってきました。On the first day he came, Riku brought one picture book over.でも、三さんページでつかれて下したを向むきました。But he grew tired after three pages and looked down.ハナさんは、となりにすわって読んであげました。Hana sat down beside him and read it aloud for him.読み終わると、リクくんは「もう一回いっかい」と言いいました。When she had finished reading, Riku said, “Again.”

一いっか月げつたつと、リクくんが半分はんぶんまで読よみました。After a month, Riku read as far as halfway himself.二にか月げつたつと、ハナさんは聞きいているだけです。After two months, Hana was only listening.お母かあさんは、お礼れいにクッキーを焼いてくれました。His mother baked some biscuits for her to say thank you.

ある土曜日どようび、リクくんは新あたらしい絵本えほんをえらびました。One Saturday, Riku chose a new picture book.そして、一人ひとりで読よみはじめました。Then he started reading on his own.三十分さんじゅっぷんかかって、とうとう読み終わりました。It took half an hour, but at last he finished reading it.本ほんをとじたとき、顔かおが赤あかくなっていました。When he closed the book, his face had gone red.

「ぜんぶ、一人ひとりで読よめたよ。」“I read all of it by myself.”ハナさんは、その本ほんのカードを作ってあげました。Hana made him a card for the book.リクくんは、カードを大事だいじにかばんに入いれました。Riku put the card carefully into his bag.お母かあさんも、何度なんどもお礼れいを言ってくれました。His mother, too, thanked her again and again.ハナさんは今日きょうも、店みせのおくで待まっています。Today as well, Hana is waiting at the back of the shop.
