On Saturday, Ryo went to the flea market in the park. When he tried on a brown coat, it fitted him perfectly. The price was only a thousand yen. The old man running the stall beamed and said, "It's yours."
When he got home, he immediately put his hand into the pocket. A small key came out. Ryo had bought the coat without ever looking inside the pocket. He wanted to give the key back, but the flea market was over. He left the key on his desk for the time being.
The next Saturday, when he went to the same park, the old man was there.「このかぎ、コートのポケットに入っていました。」"This key was in the pocket of the coat." The old man's eyes went wide.「十年前になくした、家のかぎですよ。」"That's my front door key. I lost it ten years ago."
He said thank you over and over.「何かお礼をしたいんですが。」"I'd like to give you something in return."「いいえ。 No, really. It was a good coat and it cost me next to nothing."
Since then, Ryo has gone to that park every week. Whenever he passes the old man's stall, he always says hello.「今日は、いいものがありますか。」"Have you got anything good today?" The two of them always end up looking at each other and laughing.
